Alan
is a sometimes too serious fellow who is conscientious in his work.
(Hey, he's trying to lighten up.) He's been a
programmer for 20 years and a musician about twice that long. He helped
rewrite the original Electronic Bookshelf program
which was later purchased by Scholastic. He programs in
several languages including Basic, Javascript and PHP.
Some of the other jobs he's had: Worked in the DeVry Chicago mailroom,
Loaded bags of fertilizer, Worked in a glass factory, in a
transmission factory, in a bomb factory.
Other things he's done: Overhauled several car engines; Driven from
Illinois to California and back alone with no music or radio; Hiked
(more than once) an
hour into the Southern California desert to take off his clothes and
sit in the hot springs then jump into the cold stream (if you ask him
he'll tell you where).
